This painting is a typical example of Bella Hvatskin’s culture split between her Russian background and her current Israeli life. Here we see the romantic fantasy of leaving Russia with it’s generals and communist brainwash and sailing to Israel, the promised land with it’s abundance (symbolised by the fruit).
